And now, the moment you've all been waiting for:
Information regarding the change in our camp plan due to the NPSD strike
Thank you for your patience!
Due to the fact that NP schools will be in session until July 29th, and T&K makes use of Pennbrook Middle School for camp, a change was necessary. For any of you who are currently registered for Camp I or interested in becoming a part of camp I, here is how things will boil down.
Our first week, June 28th to July 2nd, will now be a mini show camp, run much like our other show camp is at the end of the summer. Anyone who is registered from grades 1-9 is welcome to participate. The show will be P.T. Barnum, the Greatest Showman on Earth, and will feature every camper, performing Friday, July 2nd, in the evening (Time TBD, but most likely 6:30 or 7PM). Because of the unique nature of this camp, we can only allow full-day students - no mornings-only option this week. For this week, camp will be held at Lansdale Presbyterian Church (450 Oak Park Road, Hatfield). The performance will also take place in this location. For this week, there will be no regular apprentice program. 5-8 interns will be chosen instead, much as in regular camp. Those apprentices who wish to act as interns can submit an application to Betsy Falk, the director of this special camp, at onstageandoff@live.com. The cost of this special one-week camp will be included in the cost of the original 3-week session as planned originally. If you wish to register just for this special one-week mini-camp and not the entire first 3 weeks, please contact us for a pricing guide.
The rest of Camp I will continue as planned. It will begin on Tuesday, July 6th (July 5th is a holiday for the school district). The theme and location will remain the same, and the price per week will not change. If you do not wish to attend the special mini-camp and would like to only attend the new 2-week Camp I for whatever reason, please contact us for a change in your bill. The cost of the first week will be removed and you will only need to pay for the weeks you attend.
Camp II and Show Camp will in no way be affected by the strike or any of the plans above.
Still confused?
Please contact us at onstageandoff@live.com or 215-858-9528 and we will do our best to clarify the situation for you.
Thank you for your willingness to be flexible in this difficult time.
Made by our very own Mr. Kevin Lockard and Mr. Jon Ferguson, the T&K documentary is a great way for those who have never been to camp before to get a flavor of what it is like and understand the flow of things. And for 2009 campers, it's a great memory of the wonderful times we've had!

T&K Summer Performing Arts Camps
2009 will be the 23rd year for this most exciting of all T&K programs. Beginning at the Liegel’s Kaleidoscope Dinner Theatre and then held at a local church facility, North Penn Community Education offered the most wonderful of opportunities – to hold summer camps at various of the district’s elementary schools. Only 40 students and 3 teachers began the music, drama, and dance morning classes that made up the early years, but from the start it was all about creativity, discipline, focus, and fun.
From the start, the over-arching three T&K rules set the stage for success: Work hard, Respect Others, Have Fun.
Now at our fourth elementary / middle school, there are two exciting-three week camps with 25+ staff from some of the country's best drama schools and upwards of 200 students, grades 1- 12, at each. Divided by their grades, they explore every facet of the performing arts. Mornings continue to accent the basics, along with wild opening exercises, morning snacks and intermissions, special guests and bring-in days, and lots of team building and sharing. Most campers also stay for the afternoon. After lunch there is all-camp recreation and three sessions of elective classes, where each individual campers can choose and accent their personal skills or interests. There are now over thirty-six different special offerings in five areas: Music (Show Choir, Beatlemania, Percussion, Developing the Solo Voice, Jazz Instrumentation, Accappella…), Dance (Hip Hop, Ballroom, Tap, Production Number, Stomp, Stage Combat…), Drama (Dialects, Auditioning, Shakespeare, Theatre History, Improvisation…), Theatre Crafts (Puppetry, Mask-Making, Set Design, Stage Make-up, FX…), and Media (Music Video, Stop Action Animation, Film Critique, Acting for Film, Scriptwriting…). It’s a kaleidoscopic grab- bag of theatrical opportunity!
Our new apprentice program has grown by leaps and bounds as well. Students grades 10-12 may sign on as apprentices accenting morning studies in Arts Education, Technical Theatre, or Performance and get a taste of their possible future. The most recent Apprentice team numbered 52 (!!!) and enjoyed mentoring younger campers, putting on their own Talent Showcase and Night of One Acts, and traveling for a full day of shows and sight-seeing in NYC.

PT BARNUM, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH
(image coming soon!)
June 28th - July 2nd
2010 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the world's most famous showmen, Phineas Taylor Barnum. In this musical tribute, we will tell you about his American Museum, his famous acts like Joyce Heth, the oldest woman in the world, Tom Thumb, the world's smallest man, and Jumbo, the world's largest elephant. And of course, his famous Barnum and Bailey circus! Join us in a life story that is . . . well, bigger than life!

July 6th - July 16th
Walt Disney changed the artform of animation when he created his first motion picture, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Following this success was an era of movie-making unparalled since, and this camp we will celebrate these films. Pinnochio, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and others will be studied and explored.

July 19th - August 6th
Second camp is always themed for a theatre musician, lyricist, or pair. This year we will be studying a man who wrote a canon of some of the theatregoers favorite musicals, about some of the most varied topics out there! From Cats to The Phantom of the Opera, from Evita to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Webber has brought us some of the greatest modern musicals of our time.
Every summer for the past five years, a group of 30-40 excited campers, grades 3-9, has gathered to produce a full Broadway-style musical in two weeks! Rehearsing at an area church for once week and "on location" in a theatre for the second week, they learn the dances, songs, lines, and blocking as well as the basics of acting, singing, and even theatre crafts! Learning the value of hard work and a team atmosphere, show camp is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn to art of putting on a show in a low-stress, high-fun environment. The adult staff and high-school aged interns bring enthusiasm and excitement and the kids bring the talent!
Show Camp 2010

August 9th - 21st
Join us as we explore history, math, science, and grammar in song and dance, using music from the popular Schoolhouse Rock series! This musical, based on the TV spots, tells the story of a young teacher and his difficulty in explaining things to his classes. The characters in his head come to life and show him how to teach, and he even learns a bit in the process! With characters galore, it promises to be a ton of fun for all involved and a blast from the past for parents, friends, and teachers alike!
